A couple of quiet weekends

Hi Everyone,

So, we have had a quiet couple of weeks since my last post. The weekend before last we did some wedding organising on Saturday followed by cooking some dishes from the cooking classes I did a few weeks before. Then we went to Lal Baugh botanical gardens on Sunday.

Making nann bread - came out pretty well!

A cheeky drink on the way home!
The Friday before last was another public holiday here for Ganesh Chaturthi. We don't pretend to know anything about it really, but basically it is in honor of Ganesh, the elephant headed god. He is the most worshiped god in India and is the remover of obstacles and god of wisdom (the kind of guy you want on your side!). Over the few weeks before there have been a lot of Ganesh idols in the little shops and on the street waiting to be taken home and worshiped for the festival. It last 11 days with, as far as I can tell, some general street festivities every night, finishing on Monday with immersion of the idols.
Celebrations on the main street near us last week

Another post to follow shortly :-)

  1. The naan bread looks delicious.

Rangoli looks like it would be fun to do. Any classes Kathryn?
